There's always a first time... to run a 400m race!

Just for the sake of reviving my blog after exam hiatus and appeasing some faithful readers (<3 you guys!)... here's a random post not really worth reading. But read it anyway lol!

Top 3 signs someone is running their first 400m race ever:
1.) The moment they cross the finish line, they collapse half-dead onto the track,
2.) Their legs hurt like a bitch the next day,
3.) They are overjoyed to just FINISH the darn race, who cares in what place!

You can definitely tick all 3 boxes for me please! Because it's my last year at school, I really wanted to take part in Sports Day for once... I think the last time I did was in those kiddy races in Primary 3! (We won gold, by the way hahah.)

I tried out for 100m sprints, and to my total surprise, Molly put me in for 4x400m relays. FOUR HUNDRED METRES!!! T___T I know some pro people are like "Psssh, 400m ONLY mah!" But I've practically never run before in my life, and I was scared to death.

So were my equally inexperienced teammates, Sharlyn and Hong Shien, except for Li Jie, who was probably the only one who knew what the heck she was doing! But to be honest, I'm so proud of the whole team :)

The odds were against us, we obviously could win against our stiff competition... but all of us made it across the finish line, no batons were dropped, and that's good enough for me!

I'm especially proud of Sharlyn who ran the entire 400m without stopping, even though she thought she couldn't do it! Although she did spend 45 minutes lying on the field afterwards...

But we made it to the end, tired but alive and relieved. We survived our first (and last for me) 400m race!

I haven't really been part of a team before, and in a team, you have to trust your teammates. Mine didn't let me down, and at least we'll have a bronze medal to show for our effort and not... giving... up!

Now I can call myself a "runner"! LOL! Or at least, I can say I've run a 400m relay race before, took part in Sports Day, and at least helped out McDougall a tiny bit.

We had help from a miracle though! Cornwall withdraw beforehand so we had 3rd place in the bag anyway, phew! Or else... :S

Fingers crossed we'll emerge 3rd overall! Wo pu yao last place!!! :( And I know it would break our captains' hearts. So yeah, jia you McDougall!!
