The very wannabe food review post.

In my family, it's a warped tradition to have sushi/Japanese food during every family members' birthday. As if we don't already eat enough sushi on a regular basis!

This birthday I wanted to go to CountryPatch Cafe because I absolutely LOVED my first visit there! Reached Kiulap a little after 7 pm and... WA WA WAAAAA, whadya know, the place closes at 7 pm!!! Suai much?!? I had to pick probably the ONLY eating place in Brunei that doesn't open for dinner!! D:

So we went to Kaizen Sushi where my dad had slyly already made a reservation (So typical! <_<) First time there!

My makunochi bento (sounds super kawaii doesn't it!) : raw salmon, assorted tempura and UNAGI DON!!! ♥♥♥

The tempura was SUPA NAIS!! Much much nicer than Excapade's. And the unagi don was SUPA YUMMY!!! Ate with peace of mind cause there were no bones in the unagi and it tasted like... salty heaven!

The nicest unagi I've ever had before, and that's saying a lot cause I've eaten unagi before at... *counts* SEVEN different chains of Jap restaurants! Sakae Sushi, Sushi King, Ajisen Ramen, Sushi Tei, Misato, Excapade Sushi and Chopstix. Yes my family are Jap food fanatics :P I'd rate Ajisen Ramen as being 2nd best for unagi hehe.

The mushroom tempura came with a flower shape carved out of it! How cute is that!!

Raw salmon really is... interesting. Soaked it in lemon juice and all you can taste is soft, squishy... sourness. I don't know what's supposed to be so great about it! Like sour jelly only -_-

The lighting was absolutely awful for camwhoring, but you know me! ;) And besides, when there's Photoshop, there's ALWAYS a way to deal with bad lighting!

Me and Tuachums!

Okay I dunno why I uploaded this pic I'm now realizing it looks kinda creepy cause of the cast shadow lighting :(

My all pink birthday outfit!

Overall, I'll give Kaizen Sushi ♥♥♥♥ just cause I loved the tempura, agedashi tofu and unagi so much!

So if you like Jap food (especially unagi/tempura), go to Kaizen Sushi in Kiarong!

Next up is Fleur-de-lys! It just so happened that it's along the same block of shops as Kaizen Sushi, so we went there to get my birthday cupcakes.

2 red velvet and 2 nutella!

Omg I loooove Fleur-de-lys cupcakes to death!!! They are the sheer meaning of decadence, with smooth lip-smacking icing piled as high as the cupcake itself!

The red velvet ones are especially pretty!!! The pink icing is cream cheese!!

I'm giving Fleur-de-lys ♥♥♥♥♥ cause everything they make is so pretty and so so scrumptious!

So if you like pretty desserts and pastries that don't disappoint in the taste department, go to Fleur-de-Lys in Kiarong and Seri Qlap Mall!

The day after my birthday was the day my sister and Ava were leaving Brunei so we went to the airport. And had DELIFRANCE!!!
Mummy and baby.

I've been craving the custard fruit tart for weeks and...

CRAVING OFFICIALLY SATISFIED!

Super good and brings me back to my childhood days when me, my mom and my sister used to go to Delifrance in Yayasan practically all the time and I'd eat the fruit + biscuit tart but leave behind all the custard. Lol!! Kids.

Times like these make me love my digital camera. No fuss no mess perfect macro.

My sister ordered the Ratatouille Baked Rice that I shared with her and it was fab!! No clue what they put on top of the rice (might just be tomatoes + capsicum + mushroom and SPECIAL SAUCE) but it tastes sooo good!

In fact, EVERYTHING on their menu looks delicious! And it isn't expensive either. Delifrance should totally open up in the Mall!!! It's a pity that the only branch right now is so far away :(

Also, the staff are super nice and polite!!! Which is something you barely barely ever see anymore here in Brunei. So that was really refreshing!

I'm obviously gonna give Delifrance ♥♥♥♥♥! I'd love to eat there more often if only I could.

So yeah, if you want good food, good service and a bright and sunny atmosphere (with comfy chairs!) but don't mind a long-ish drive, go to Delifrance at the airport! (Fo'realz, cause I really don't want them to close down again T_T)

I really hope the post didn't come out sounding too contrived! But you can't deny it was fun looking at close-up macros of gorgeously textured food!! See you tomorrow lovelies (and the occasional baddy)! ♥
