"Loving the Right Brother" - Marie Ferrarella - 2009

Read this one last week, but it kind of got lost in the shuffle. I don't typically buy series romance new, and certainly not one written by an unknown (to me) author, however, the title sucked me right in. Then I read the back cover blurb and I was a done. Two of my favorite plots!!! Falling for the wrong brother - and when one character has been in love for years without the other character knowing.

"The Awakening" - Kelley Armstrong - 2009

Well, I finally got the second book, and yeah, read in it one sitting. It doesn't end quite as abruptly as the first one so, I guess I can wait til - MAY 2010! - for the conclusion to the trilogy. I'm loving the tension between two main characters, which will ultimately go nowhere, due to supernatural factors. As soon as I finished the Awakening I immediately wanted to watch Buffy, which means that Armstrong penned a kick ass young adult novel, as it channeled everything I loved as a teen - and let's be honest, still do.

How great are these covers? Stylish and attention to detail - just great.

The Summoning - Kelley Armstrong - 2008

First of the series, and my dumbass didn't look for the second one at the same time. It's like the Season One Finale of "The West Wing", you'll want the Second Season, pretty much immediately. Well, trip to the library today, I guess.

Buying new books for the first time in ages...

To Beguile a Beast - Elizabeth Hoyt - 2009

This book was well written and interesting, not really a keeper - but I am curious about the rest of the series. I love that the cover tells you it's Book 3, also, that I wasn't overwhelmed with information about how gloriously happy the previous two couples are. Just the right amount to know the books are connected, but you never feel lost. "To Beguile a Beast" is a classic "Beauty and the Beast" story, but features real flawed characters, giving it more depth and emotional power, plus the children in the book are not adorable imps added to fill space, they are an essential part of this tale.

Strange Dream

I had a dream about teeth this morning, which always sucks and freaks me out. In this one I kept losing my front bottom ones while I was waiting for the dentist, who just happened to be John Spencer, that is Chief-of-Staff and near VP Leo McGarry from TV's "The West Wing." RIP, sir.

"Bruneian scholar gets conned after walking into wall."

Snow House - I finally went yesterday, with Ya Wen and Jan and spent 2 hours there. Ya Wen did the awesomest re-enactment of the Italian Man in Malta in the best Italian accent ever. The couches with the suspicious stains on them were a bit of a turn-off but the prices weren't scary and the snow ice? Yum. So soft and creamy.

I had Banana split but secretly wanted to steal Ya Wen's Bananarama.

Banana split.

Bananarama.

Like the title says, Ya Wen got conned at Incomm. And she walked into a glass wall. True story, people. But anyway, although funny, that's not the point. Walking into the wall, I mean.

She sent her phone to get repaired under warranty at Incomm and the people stole her memory card AND used her phone for personal means after repairing it. The idiot left their smses and photos in the phone. We read it and after laughing (me and Jan) and getting very pissed (Ya Wen), we decided it was a guy messaging his girlfriend. Assh*le lah. I tell you, don't ever send your phones to get repaired at Incomm! Ya Wen wanted to take out her memory card from her phone before giving it to them, but they told her not to because they had to check/repair it blah blah (when there's actually nothing wrong with it) but it was actually because they wanted to STEAL it! WTH?!?!

Okay, rant over. Ya Wen should be the one ranting, not me. For the first time ever, she said f*ck. Like, the real thing, not those euphemisms she always uses. That's how angry she was. Man, don't unleash the fury of the man on yourself, man, 'cause watch out, man!

Enough about that. I went hunting in Guardian and Winmark for the cat eyes mascara that I so badly want but I couldn't find any Maybelline anywhere. Whatta... since when does Guardian not sell Maybelline?! And I wanted to buy Seventeen from Best Eastern, until I saw the cover...

Photobucket
SICK. I might buy Seventeen when girls I don't really like are on the cover, but the Jo Bros? NO WAY IN HELL. And they're guys! Wth man, Seventeen, are you out of your mind? Eeeewwwwwwww yuck. Guess I'll just have to wait for July's issue.

Got over the trauma of it, then went to read the synopses of Sushi For Beginners and If You Could See Me Now. Can't wait to read them. I finished re-reading my Remember Me? e-book yesterday night and I loved it! I don't know why I didn't really like it the first time around. Weird, huh? Sophie Kinsella has a new book coming out soon. Yay!

Then we went (me trying hard not to limp in my pinching platforms -- which I got 4 blisters from) to McDonald's where I now realized I paid $3 for a Cornetto McFlurry and medium fries while Jan paid $10 for an Ayam Goreng McD. Could've been my fault. Oops.

Ya Wen rambling on about me being crazy or something like that.

Behold, gay guy sex change drag queen miss America ba zhang Bruneian scholar herself! I actually think you look really nice here, Ya Wen. Please don't kill me.

I was reading kimong.com recently from a link in a search for Nose shoes in Google. I guess you could say she's sort of a Malaysian celeb. Anyway, I found out I'm 1 degree of separation from her. I was reading one of her blog posts when I came across a photo of her fiance Josiah and Kenneth, who's a friend of anek Joe's that I met at my sister's wedding where he was a groomsman. Boy, was that a weird shock.

That's only half the reason why I'm telling you about this. I also found a link for xiaxue.blogspot.com from there. I read her blog once a few years ago but kind of forgot about it. So anyway, I've been reading it for the past few days, and if you think I like pink, wait till you see her. That chick loves pink. I mean, really loves it. My kinda girl! What I would give to have a completely pink room...

Sports day.

Took my new mousse for a spin (or rather, a twirl) on Saturday! As promised, it's a lot lighter than the Tresemme it replaced and didn't weigh down my hair. It's also softer and less crunchy, but didn't compromise on hold at all. And it also smells nicer. After a whole afternoon of walking, running and sweating at Sports Day on Sunday, my ponytail was still curly, whereas with my Tresemme it would've fallen flat and straight already. It definitely put the spring back in my step curls, so I'm a happy camper! Loreal Paris, ladies and gentlemen.

Talking about Sports Day... it was the first one I attended since Primary 6. Danson won again (argh!) and Macdougall came in second, overtaking Cornwall. Hollisucks was, as usual, last. I have a theory that they're seriously cursed.

Took only a couple of photos since Sharlyn was playing the part of designated photographer with her awesome Sony Ericsson phone camera. Those Cybershots are a force to be reckoned with.

You know, on second thought, my phone camera is actually not that bad. Buleh tahan lerh. In daylight, it's pretty damn good.

I was gonna start having a b*tchfit about Max Mosley and the FIA and stuff... but then I realized, what's the point? It's not like anybody besides Ya Wen is going to know what I'm talking about, and I've already told her all of it before. So yeah.

But I still think Max Mosley is the man who killed Formula 1 and I hope karma's a b*tch to him, preferably him dying very soon.

My ceremonial raceday pizza. I think I should stop eating it... really does seem like a jinx.

Kimi, continue like this and you'll become the Ice-cream Man, not Iceman. But as always, Forza Ferrari, now and forever. A few races ago we were so excited about a 6th place and now it's a disappointment. I want to see some podiums, people!

Oh, I've been meaning to post these for a while now. I'm finally doing it, hehe. God I hope the subjects of the drawings in question don't see this. They're sort-of caricatures. And they're pretty good! I bet you can even recognize who they are...
