What do you want to be when you grow up?

You wanna be famous? You wanna be a star? You wanna in movies?

You wanna have boobies...? xD

Being in Form 5, with graduation only 7 months away (:O!), each and every one of us is pressed with the tough choice... what happens after that?

Our childhood has flown by, and now we have to make the hardest decision yet. Where will we go from here? Who will we become? What will we do with the rest of our lives?

We've always thought that leaving home was so far away, in the distant future, that we didn't have to think about it yet. But now we do. It's looming upon us. We have to think hard, and choose fast.

I know what I want to be. I want to be a lawyer. Ever since I was 8, I've known I wanted to be a lawyer. A lot of people ask me, what made you decide? I always reply "It's a long story."

I think today is the day I tell that story.

When I was 8, I watched a movie. It was about an underestimated blonde girl who loved pink and had a big dream to prove herself to everyone.

Her name? Elle Woods. The movie? Legally Blonde.

"Meet Elle Woods. She's a lawyer with a heart of gold...and a mane to match!"

Okay, please don't laugh. Yes, I know how superficial it may sound, I chose my future career based on a Hollywood movie when I was 8. But Elle Woods made being a lawyer look so pretty and sophisticated and PINK!

I was mesmerized by Elle Woods, who was a college sorority girl and stereotyped bimbo who got dumped by her boyfriend and then decided to become a Harvard law student to win him back. She soon realizes that her boyfriend is a total prick who doesn't deserve all her hard work, so she ends up becoming a lawyer to prove that she's more than just a dumb blonde. And some other nonsense about overcoming obstacles, and nobody believing in her, etc etc.

She showed that you could have brains and beauty, and she's so strong-willed and opinionated and never gave up. She's sweet and bubbly and bold and most of all, CHIO! (This is also the movie where I fell in love with Reese Witherspoon.)

I know it's just a story from a movie, but I soon realized that we had some things in common, and I also had a lot of the qualities necessary to become a lawyer.

Plus, I could already imagine myself in pink suits and high heels like her, sauntering around a courtroom, flipping my hair; buying a chio Mac laptop (not in a bunny suit lol!); getting my nails/hair done while studying.

I literally want to BE Elle Woods. I can just see it now!

Did I mention ALL THAT PINK she wears??? And THOSE SHOES?

Please, don't think I'm naive. I'm not. I know what lawyers actually have to do. It is not a fashion show and the courtroom is not a runway. I actually have personal skills that I consider to suit the future career of my choice.

But I found out recently that I have been HORRIBLY DECEIVED! (Okay la, maybe not so kua zhang?)

It turns out thaaaat... lawyers can't wear colourful jewelry NOR PAINTED NAILS when they go to court.
FML!!!

AAAARGGGGHHHH!!! The nails, omg the nails! The sheer thought of not being able to do my nails is killing me. Can you imagine me, my whole life, with NAKED NAILS??? I think I'd rather die. Really.

You know, I think I'm such a mass-comm girl. I wanna be able to wear chio clothes to work, dye my hair and style it nicely, Konadicure my nails and wear killer heels. I don't think there are any sensible, high paying, professional jobs where I can do that!!! Sigh, so right now I just feel very tortured :(

Next time I go to any education fairs, conventions, talks, etc, the first thing I shall ask about the Law course is: Am I allowed to have fancy nails when I work as a lawyer? If they say no, I'll spit in their face!!

I MUST FIND A COUNTRY WHICH ALLOWS THEIR LAWYERS TO HAVE CHIO NAILS!!! I WILL MOVE THERE WITH NO HESITATION PLZ!!

Orrr... I could always go to beauty school! And then become a certified manicurist :D This is one of my more deep-seated and less-known dreams. My dad would sooner kill me than even think about letting me go to beauty school.

Although ironically, my namesake Stella, actually came from the name of none other than... a beauty school in Malaysia! It's called the Stella-In Beauty Academy!

My mom was undecided over what to name me after I was born, and then she saw the sign for Stella-In and thought that Stella would be a pretty name for her adorable little newborn. Interesting, huh? I bet you didn't know that! Maybe it's fate?

Okay, I'm digressing.

I guess, as always, I want to have my cake and eat it too. Maybe as an adult, you just can't do that anymore.

Chocolate... shoes?!

Who knew, two of my favourite things, shoes and chocolates could be combined into one! No, seriously.

Step aside, Dorothy's ruby slippers! (Pun not intended, lol.) Check these out...

Orange and dark chocolate peep-toe and dark and white chocolate zebra print!

Dark chocolate with pink strawberry polka dots, milk chocolate with pink polka dots, pink strawberry chocolate with dark chocolate accents and white chocolate with dark chocolate accents.

Dark chocolate with gold dust and milk chocolate with silver dust.

Dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate.

If you're wondering where on earth these amazing creations are from, they're made by Gayle's Chocolates and you can even buy them online! They cost around $40 US dollars per shoe.

I think if I ever bought one, or received it as a gift, I really wouldn't be able to eat it! They're just way too pretty. I'd just keep them in my fridge and take them out to stare at everyday :D Or even try to wear them!

You wouldn't seriously think of eating such gorgeous chocolate shoes, would you??

On second thought, I can almost imagine myself biting off the stiletto heel of one of those chocolate shoes... how satisfying would that feel!

But just almost.

My dream dress and shoes... for prom!

As a Form 5 student (still not used to this btw!), naturally one of the first things you think of is 'O' Levels. But also on the list is... fantasizing about PROM! It's still months away, but a girl can dream, right?

I think picking the perfect prom dress is SO important! It depresses me to see girls who attend prom in dresses that aren't very pretty, because it's a milestone memory and you want to remember yourself looking your best.

I've decided I want a short dress. Because:
a.) I believe I have nice legs that I wanna show off. Haha!
b.) In my honest opinion, long dresses (especially with full skirts) are a bit over-the-top. Not that they aren't nice, but it's prom, not your wedding day, and
c.) They look younger, sweeter and flirtier. All perfect traits for prom!

But it also shouldn't be too short la. Anything slutty is out of question so it should be a respectable length, like above the knee. I want a big, poofy skirt! It's fun, yet formal, while fitted skirts look older, more casual and clubby. Striking the perfect balance is hard.

So happy I'm thin so I can carry off A-line, bubble and tiered skirts without worrying! :D

My first thoughts were that I wanted a short pink (obviously) dress with a strapless satin bodice (the upper part) and a big, poofy tutu skirt! :D I mean, how cute is that?? And so me!

These were the dresses I initially found for fun on Google, all which were not exactly to my taste.

Lace embroidered bodice, cinced empire waist and tulle-overlayed full skirt in fuchsia.
Needs to be shorter, oh my! Like I said, I don't want a full length dress.

Frilly sweetheart neckline, ruched full bodice and tulle-overlayed full skirt in hot pink.
Too long again! Shorter bodice I guess. And this shade of pink is... pukey!

Strapless embroidered full bodice and A-line tutu skirt in peach.
Needs to be pinker, poofier and less plain! The bodice is fugly.

Which actually all just kinda reminds me of...

This.
But I swear I had no idea about this dress Megan Fox wore to the MTV Movie Awards! I just stumbled across it in my search. Oh my God, if only I looked even half that good in a dress.

And then I expanded my search to actual online stores that specialize in prom and occasion dresses. I soon realized I was naive in deciding on a dress design before even exploring all the options! We'll go by brand/website.

Starting with the most expensive! These are Flirt by Maggie Sottero (which makes to-die-for wedding gowns) from America. Super unattainable, don't even dream about it!

Strapless bodice, bows, cinched waist and bubble skirt in pink plaid.

Strapless sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and sequined A-line skirt in black and gold.

This next one is by Akira (never heard of it before in my life! And no, it's not the electronic appliances brand, lol!), originally found the picture at Prom Mafia.

Lacy sweetheart neckline, cinched waist and bubble skirt in pink and cream.

And via Prom Mafia, I also found Windsor, which specializes in formal dresses and has such gorgeous girly prom items!

Strapless fitted bodice, ribbon-cinched waste and sequined A-line skirt in black.

Sequined sweetheart neckline, cinched empire waist and ruched skirt in black and gold.

And last but not least for the dresses, an obvious website to visit is of course Forever 21!

Strapless gathered bodice, cinched empire waist and pleated bubble skirt in red.

Frilly ruched halter, beaded empire waist and flouncy skirt in purple.

Fitted heartshape bodice, ribbon-cinched waist and A-line skirt in fuchsia.

Ruched sweetheart bodice, cinched waist and bubble skirt in bronze.

Fitted strapless sweetheart bodice, embroidered cinched waist and tiered skirt in black.

Overall, considering dresses, price and convenience, I think Forever 21 stands out as the #1 possible place for prom dress shopping! Yay!

Now for the SHOES! Shoe-lovers, time to look here!

Shoes are so, so important because the right pair of gorgeous shoes can actually improve a plain or dull dress, or make a pretty one even nicer. Similarly, not-so-nice shoes paired with the most beautiful dress, would spoil the entire outfit.

Many make the mistake of picking shoes as an afterthought, but in reality, shoes can make or break an outfit.

I think black and silver are the most versatile. Wearing white shoes with a black dress just looks silly. And high, high skyscraper stiletto heels! You'll regret not wearing a classy pair of very high heels (or at least, I would), cause anything below 4 inches tends to look drab.

And high heels are proven to improve posture and the appearance of your legs too ;)

We'll start with Aldo, which has absolutely oh-my-effin-God smexy skyscraper stilettos! But they're soooo far outta my budget :( RM200+ a pair in Malaysia. Die first la! Their website is like SHOE PORN!!

Silver strappy stilettos.

Gold peeptoe slingback platform stilettos.

Silver strappy diamante stilettos.

Patent silver strappy platform sandals.

Black strappy t-bar diamante stilettos.

Slightly better but still not cheap are Forever 21 shoes. So pretty as well! A lot of girls, I notice, splurge on a dress and then spend about 2 cents on their shoes. Big mistake! And trust me, it shows. I think budgeting reasonable amounts for both is best.

Besides the perfect dress and Cinderella shoes...

Hair, makeup, hand bag and accessories are equally important too! A lot of the time, girls focus too much on the dress, then they turn up with a mismatched bag, ugly makeup and bad hair. How want to show face liddat?!?

Every little detail is important! You WILL be scrutinized in photos by everybody, how you looked WILL be remembered and you WILL want to have memories of looking beautiful.

Or at least... I will :) And I guess another thing you can tell from all this is that I really like girly looking stuff. Naturally! And that I just looove to fantasize :D

I secretly (not any more I guess!) wonder if guys fantasize about prom bajus too, but then again, they all bo pian what, can only wear tuxedos. How boring! Poor boys. Lol!
