The legend of Friday the 13th.

I'm so glad the weekend is finally here. And guess what, today is Friday the 13th!

It happens to be Ya Wen's 16th birthday! Photo spam!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY gay guy sex change drag queen Miss America ba zhang Bruneian scholar! And see you soon. You're gonna tell us your juicy nyamans and you know it ;) (Facebook is so useful for stealing photos! And notice she's wearing the same shirt in all of them :D)

I thought that for once, I would read up on the legend of Friday the 13th to find out what it's really all about, instead of the vague idea that I have. Naturally, the first place I turned to was Wikipedia.

This is the 3rd time Friday the 13th is happening this year! The next time it occurs 3 times a year will be 2015 :) The phobia of Friday the 13th is called 'paraskevidekatriaphobia'. Wtf, sibeh long word!! And I dare you to try pronounce it! Hahaha.

There are a few theories about why Friday the 13th is what it is la. One of them is just unlucky because 13 is an unlucky number. There is also a superstition, from the Last Supper or a Norse myth, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners. Unreal much??

And Friday is supposedly an unlucky day: Black Friday has been associated with stock market crashes and other disasters since the 1800s. It has also been suggested that Friday has been considered an unlucky day because, according to Christian scripture and tradition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday.

Another theory comes from Norse mythology -- myths from Scandinavia. Friday is named for Frigga, the goddess of love and fertility, who was banished and called a witch. Every Friday, she convened a meeting with 11 other witches plus the devil, and the 13 of them plotted bad things to happen the next week. For many centuries in Scandinavia, Friday was known as "Witches' Sabbath".

Yet another theory is that King Philip of France, who felt threatened by a powerful and wealthy Christian military organization called the Knights Templar, ordered the arrest of all the Knights Templar in France on Friday, October 13th, 1307. Those who read/watched The Da Vinci Code will be familiar with this particular one.

Basically there are lots of these "theories" but nobody's sure if any of them are actually true. I guess Friday the 13th is just destined to remain a myth forever.

And ironically, although it's supposed to be an unlucky day, less accidents actually happen around the world on Friday the 13th! Because people everywhere are all trying to be more careful. Haha.

Anyway, I just came back from Munibah's house where we watched Paranormal Activity sempena Friday the 13th! Honestly, the first half hour of the movie is slow and boring and it gets scary after that, but not VERY scary. I've definitely seen scarier movies before.

I also tried out Munibah's new (well, sorta) Canon EOS DSLR! She has the same model as Jia Yee's. Took some photos of my toenail Konad with flash in poor lighting. DSLRs are love! If only they came in pink, then I'd REALLY want one :D

You can't see it that clearly but I love them! Very chio and classy :D I think that's all for me tonight, time to watch the latest episode of Smallville! See you all tomorrow.
