Mike Tompkins - all day, every day!

Blogging at an abominable time lol! It's 3.15 am and no school tomorrow cause of study leave. Yes it feels 10 million times weirder than it sounds :S

So I'm doing cartwheels in the treasure trove of nail art blogs I recently found (but am too kiasu to share at the moment). These French girls really know what they're doing!!

Anyway, thought I'd finally get around to sharing my 2 favourite songs right now to listen to and which I keep on repeat as MUCH as possible:

Saw Ashley's Tumblr just now and she beat me to this!!! I really wish Tumblr had a commenting option for people who aren't registered with them :(

You make me, feel like I'm livin' a TEENAGE DREAM!
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while, cause you're amazing, JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.

We gone light it up, like it's DY-NA-MITE!

This guy is SO FREAKING cool! And he's hot to boot ;) But married FML, at 23?!?!? Gratitude to Callistus for giving me the link to his videos which ultimately sparked my craze wheeee.

I can't believe I'm never gonna get to kacau him (Callistus, not Mike Tompkins) in class again T__T (As if I didn't do that till puas already last year LOL). He actually told me he's gonna miss me hahaha wtf, then I got kinda emo D:

So many people I'm gonna miss so much after this year. So depressing. Okay I'll go sleep my sadness away now, nanait.

But before that, I shall listen to Mike Tompkins one more time hehehe!

P/S: I meant to include this in my previous post but forgot. Blogger finally modified their photo uploader!!! So happy can now do bulk photo uploading, gonna save me soooo much time :D (Yes I know I'm very outdated lol.)

30 Seconds To Mars at SingFest 2010!!!

I've waited for this day, longed for it, dreamed about it... for more than 3 whole years.

If that sounds weird to you, it's because you don't know the true meaning of devotion.

But of all places, they choose to play in Singapore. At a FESTIVAL.

That's practically like the F word of the Echelon vocabulary, it's that disgusting.

The dates are August 3rd to 5th. My 'O'-Level mock exams start on August 12th.

Is it too much to ask, for a 30 Seconds To Mars concert in my OWN home country, NOT at some impossible time???

I am going to beg my parents like no one has ever begged before.
Because I've never wanted anything so much in my life.

Lady Gaga the Bizarre.

Watched her new video for Alejandro last night. I know I must be the most outdated person in the world, behind the 12,000,000+ who have already seen it, but I just couldn't be bothered to till now.

Blame boredom, it drove me to it, and now you have to read this post about how much I disliked the video. Which is A LOT.

Regardless of whether you believe or are for/against that whole Illuminati thing of hers, Lady Gaga is obviously a woman of absolutely no morals. Zero. Zilch!

The video is downright disgusting and creepy!!! Besides all the gross sexual shit, there's also all her Illuminati symbolism and slamming the Catholic church, etc, etc, the list goes on.

I know she's trying to be "different", to not conform, to stand out in the crowd, to break away from the chains of society, but does she really have to do it like THIS?!?! By being blasphemous and immoral???

I'm sure there are other ways to be unique but she probably just wanted to pick the most controversial one that would garner her the most attention in the shortest time. Wise business move, I must admit.

But you can't deny she's sending a horrible message to young viewers and listeners about religion among other things! I may not care much for religion. If I had to define myself, I'd say I'm agnostic. Religion is way too overrated for me.

But I know religion matters to a lot of other people. And her music videos are like spit to their faces. A total insult to them.

She may think she's above everyone and everything and can do whatever she wishes, but she has tremendous impact on pop culture and the young generation. And she is repeatedly and purposely using that power to send out all these negative messages.

That isn't called being "different" anymore. That's called brainwashing people.

For two seconds, I thought the song was nice and catchy. Until I read this among the YouTube comments:

ALEJANDRO=man's defender and protector(GOD).
FERNANDO=ardent for peace(JESUS).
ROBERTO=bright or shining flame(HOLY SPIRIT).
HOTTER THAN MEXICO= HELL

Incorporate this into the lyrics:
"Don't bother me, Don't bother me, Alejandro (God)"
"Don't call my name, Don't call my name, Bye Fernando(Jesus)"
"I'm not your Babe (child), I'm not your Babe (child), Alejandro (God)"
"Don't call my name, Don't call my name, Roberto (Holy Spirit)"

In the Bible, the word "Babe" is used in place of "child".
-Exodus 2:6

That is some scary shit right there. I don't think I want to listen to her music anymore :S

I actually think it's ironic because her "little monsters" think they're being different and unique, etc by liking her, but since there are so bloody many of her fans out there, I actually think that non-conformity is achieved by NOT liking her. HAH!

Well, that's just my two cents. What does it matter what I think, right?

As for the Illuminati thing, you can read up about it (just Google Lady Gaga Illuminati) and believe what you want to believe. I'm not saying she IS a Satan worshipper, etc, I'm just saying she's immoral and has a bad influence on the generation and weaker minds who cannot decide and judge for themselves.

I think Alisa posted this link on her blog months ago, only now am I compelled to believe it after watching Alejandro. Lady Gaga's apparently not the only singer delving into Illuminati. Try thinking about any other female pop singers who have recently made a drastic and strange change to their style... Beyonce? Rihanna?

If you adore Lady Gaga for whatsoever reason though I may never be able to comprehend what goes on in your mind, then that's your choice, and there's nothing I can do about it, is there? I'm not forcing my opinion on anyone and I won't hate you for it.

Hate the game, not the players, they say. Lady Gaga being the game here, and her fans being the players I suppose.

And I will not be happy if some hater pulls that "you're just jealous of her" nonsense. Err, why would I be jealous of an immoral alleged Satan worshipper??? And not a very pretty one either. Rich and famous no doubt, but still immoral.

KOTD: Just Juicy.

It's time for another very overdue Konadicure post! Imagine, I did this one during the holidays, a week and a half ago!

You can blame the procrastinator in me for being too lazy to edit the photos till now. Sowee. *runs and hides*

Continuing with my pink theme, I was inspired to do a Konadicure based on the iconic pink and dark brown colour scheme of Juicy Couture! I don't really like their stuff (shocked, are you?). It's just not my style, but I do  the colour combination.

Juicy Couture baby pram, omg?

Juicy Couture pendrive and Xmas sock, omg?!

My nails were a tiny bit longer for this Konadicure cause it was towards the end of the holidays already, thank God. I cannot stress enough how much I really hate short nails!

Of the 2 Konadicures I did during the holidays, I definitely love this one a lot more. I just adored showing them off for a week! Yes, I can be an attention-whore sometimes, especially when it comes to my nails, my pride and joy.

In natural lighting.

A unfocused photo so you can see how sparkly the blings were. I've learnt that nails will always look better with blings! :D

The brown was actually a bit darker than it how it looks in the photos with natural light. More like a deep, rich chocolatey brown. Mmmm, chocolate... shit.

Congratulate me, I've resisted chocolate for only 4 days so far! 27 more days to go, fingers crossed. Okay, I'm digressing. Back to the nails!

With flash.

They were fast to do too, considering they look quite complicated. About 1 and a half hours maybe? When I told this to some people, they gasped in shock. What?! I've spent 2 and a half hours on some of my more elaborate Konadicures before!

Well, most of the time is wasted just waiting for the polish to dry anyway. Other nail afficionados (sp?) out there will know how bloody tedious it is to wait, wait and wait! But we do it for the thrill of painting and the satisfaction of the perfect end-product.

Yes, that's what you call dedication :D

I used Silkygirl Ever Glossy - Sassy Raspberry for the base. I love this pink so much but it's finishing and turning a bit goopy :( I plan to buy a new bottle to replace it. Skin Food - BR610 Coffee Jelly for the diagonal tips, Elianto - #44 Twilight Zone for the Konad design and The Face Shop nail top coat.

Konad image plate m65.

Big thanks to Munibah! I used her Canon DSLR to take all the photos.

It feels so good to finally be reunited with my own digital camera now that my dad is back in Brunei again :) Guess what else has been reunited?

My This Is War CD! I haven't listened to it in 3 months since I accidentally left it in Penang, but I still remember all the lyrics. It feels so good to hear it again. I will always love 30 Seconds To Mars.

Until next time (which will probably be in June, my apologies!), happy Konad-ing!

My American Idol post!

I'm actually loving American Idol this year! Last year, I watched it from beginning to end, and was on the fence the whole time about Glambert vs Kris, but my heart just wasn't in it. I didn't care who won.

I obviously still had David Cook-separation issues. I supported him since his audition, and when he got  through week after week and eventually won over Archuleta... very cannot tahan my elation!

Okay, digressing.

But this year, I finally have space in my heart for a new American Idol! And I've had my favourites of Season 9 picked out since the first time I saw them. Although a lot of the contestants suck (it's true, you have to admit it, lots of lousy ones this year), there are definitely a few outstanding ones!

Casey James.

Kinda liked him in the audition? But I was sorta undecided, and then when he sang Heaven in Top 24, I was sold. Drooling and very sold. Hubba haarrrbaaaa. I kinda wish he would put away his electric guitar though, and just go acoustic again. That way you can really hear his voice and it's also smexier!

Lee Dewyze.

Two words: Chasing Cars. I didn't even know Lee's name at the time I heard him sing that song in Top 24, but I knew I was in love. The way he connects with the audience is so intense, I literally melt when I watch him. Oh, and have I mentioned his voice is so sexy pls? Urgh can die.

Siobhan Magnus.

How can you not love her?! Her voice is killer (those high notes she hits are insane!) and she's an incredible performer, miles ahead than most of the others. And she's just so cute and bubbly, you wanna squish her!

Basically, I tune in every Wednesday just to see these 3 people sing. I anticipate their performances so much, waiting for them to blow me away. I think Lee and Siobhan have a huge chance of making it to Top 3. Fingers crossed!

I actually also like Katie Stevens, although she isn't a great singer, I think she definitely has room for improvement. Plus she's only 17! Total and utter respect.

I think everyone else (except Crystal Bowersox, who although is really good, I don't like) should go home sooner or later, but there are a few who really need to go home THIS week! I'll be extremely happy if any of them get voted off :D

Firstly, Tim Urban!

Omg, I don't care if people girls think he's good-looking, he can't sing to save his life and he definitely doesn't deserve to be on American Idol! People who are better singers than him are getting sent home because all those tween-girls keep voting for him and his JoBro hair -___-"

He's been in the bottom 3 so many times, argh just get rid of him already!

Didi Benami.

Okay, admittedly, I never liked her. She reminds me so much of Brooke White (from last season) whom I also didn't like. Last week she was okay, but this week her performance was really, really bad. Her voice isn't powerful, has a weird tone and she can't keep pitch.

Finally a reason for people to vote her out cause girl, you're no good! Such irony hor?

Paige Miles.

Consistently bad and boring performances week after week. I really just want to change the channel whenever she's singing! She has to go home, laryngitis or not.

I also don't like Andrew Garcia at all. I mean, he's not nearly as good as people keep making him out to be! Just because of one performance in Hollywood week, everyone keeps raving about him. Meanwhile, he's been giving mediocre to bad performances every week since Hollywood. I even think his performances are quite pretentious! Ugh, but he wasn't as bad this week as those 3 I picked to go home.

I'll be tuning in for the results show later at 6 pm to see if my predictions were right! Will you?

P/S: Anybody who slams me for "judging" these people or says "you think you can sing very well meh?" is really gonna get it from me. So I'm saying it in advance ah, if you're having these kinda thoughts after reading my post, then you're just a very stupid and ignorant person. The whole point of American Idol is the contestants are supposed to be judged. Only the best singers can remain on the show. And it's up to the public to decide who they think is good or bad :)

Darn it, I KNEW I left something behind!

Last night, I glanced over at the tiny stack of my 2 Mars CDs on my desk and thought... hey, they look kinda lonely...

It was time for them to meet their 3rd sibling!

So I went and retrieved my This Is War from my suitcase (I'm lazy to unpack so my stuff more or less stays in there for months and months after I come back till I have use for them :/).

I grabbed all 3 CDs and began opening each one to line them up and admire (don't ask, I'm liddat).

Then I got the fucking rudest shock of my life.

My This Is War CD case was EMPTY!!! FUUUUUUUUCKITY FUUUUCKACCINOOOO SHIIIIITT!! Cb, I got so pissed I started pacing around my house, grabbing my hair and swearing. And it was like... 2 am or something!

Kanasai la, then it hit me that I'd left it in my Sony CD player in my bedroom in Penang T____T I used to leave the music on at night and fall asleep listening to it.

@#$%^!!!!! FML :(:(:( Now I can't bloody listen to the album till March (if I'm lucky)!

Completely lost any semangat to go catch up on Mars news articles/interviews. Argh! So pandai I remember to pack the CD case very nicely together with the plastic, but forget to PUT IN THE CD.

Very heartbroken nao.

Chrome Extensions, Oprah/BEP's flashmob and Café World.

Everybody already knows I'm an avid advocate of Google Chrome, ever since I ditched Mozilla Firefox. Because Chrome is just that much better. Well recently, Google Chrome gave me, and you, even more reasons to love it.

One thing I always thought was cool about Firefox (besides the themes) was something called "add-ons" or "extensions". Basically they're tools or applications that you can add to your browser to make it do more stuff. Google Chrome didn't have that.

Until now! Yay, Google Chrome I love you for finally having extensions! Here are some of the ones which I think are cooler and more useful and that I'll definitely get.

Google Reader Notifier (by Google) by reader.chrome.notifier
Displays the number of unread items in your Google Reader account. Clicking can show a preview popup or open your Reader account.
I sometimes use Google Reader to read the blogs/websites I'm following (you can see this on your Dashboard if you're a blogger) because it's fast and convenient as you can see all the latest posts from each website one after another.

Google Mail Checker by extensions@chromium.org
Displays the number of unread messages in your Google Mail inbox. You can also click the button to open your inbox.
For people who use Gmail. Although this would be pretty useless to me :D Cause I don't bother to read/delete unimportant messages, so I have 1600 unread mail xD

Bubble Translate by bubble.translate
Bubble Translate extension By v1c1ous (bubble.translate@gmail.com).
So I won't have to open a new tab and load the Yahoo! Babelfish or Google Translate websites when I wanna translate words or webpages :)

Chromed Bird by cezarsa
Chromed Bird is a Twitter extension that allows you to follow your timelines and interact with your Twitter account.
So I can keep a close eye on all my new tweets with instant auto updates no matter what I'm doing without having to keep switching to my Twitter webpage tab every few minutes and pressing refresh!

IE Tab by ietab@blackfishsoftware.com
Display web pages using IE in a Google Chrome tab.
For some annoying but important websites that refuse to load properly on anything other then lousy Internet Explorer!

Facebook Notifications by kylecorbitt
This extension checks for new notifications, tells you how many you have, and lets you view them without ever visiting the site.
For Facebook addicts (I'm an ex :D) who want to know immediately when someone writes something on their wall or comments on a photo of them!

Facebook for Google Chrome by benhiller
Extension which lets you read your Facebook news feed and wall. You can also post status updates.
Another one for the Facebook lovers :P

Get music lyrics for youtube music videos.  Over 3 million tracks of song lyrics.
Useful when you're listening to music on YouTube and you wanna sing along.

MegaUpload DownloadHelper by YevgenyAndrov
No More Countdowns - Automatic Downloads.
Because I am damn sibeh impatient and hate waiting for the MegaUpload website!

Bit.ly (shorten, share, and track your links) by extensions@bit.ly
Shorten and share links with bit.ly. Preview the full URLs short urls point to.
So that when I'm not using Tweetdeck (which converts URLs automatically to bit.ly links), I won't have to painstakingly open the bit.ly website in order to shortern URLs that I wanna tweet!

Google Dictionary Lookup by max99x
Ctrl-Double-Click any word to look it up in Google Dictionary.
When I want to know the definition of the word, it's faster than opening a new tab to Google it or search for it on Wikipedia.

Chromepad by jsprlundsgaard
A small extension that lets you to take quick notes and save them for later.
So useful for me!! I usually use Notepad to jot down notes or website links while I'm online then I save the file and end up with a lot of useless Notepad files which I can't understand later on! Now I can use this instead.

Favorite Doodle by tiffanylane
Replaces Google's logo with your favorite doodle.
And this is just for fun, because doesn't the Google logo get boring to look at after some time? :)

Download your favourite Google Chrome extensions HERE!

To be able to use all these cool Chrome Extensions, you need the latest beta version of Google Chrome which you can very quickly download here: Google Chrome (Beta).

Okay, now for something really cool!

Are you familiar with the term "flashmob"? And no, it has nothing to do with obscene flashing. Lol. This is the definition according to Wikipedia:
A flash mob (or flashmob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse.

A few days ago, I saw one of the coolest things on the Oprah Show! A Black Eyed Peas concert was organized by the Harpo staff in Chicago to kick off the Oprah Show's 24th year, and it turned out to be a surprise flashmob choreographed dance for Oprah!

The Black Eyed Peas performed I Gotta Feeling and the entire street was filled with a crowd of 20,000 people, then suddenly one girl in blue at the very front begins dancing and everyone else stands still. And then the magic starts to happen.

Read about it here on the Oprah website!

Oprah and the Black Eyed Peas.

The people who signed up to learn the dance and be a part of the flashmob.

Yes, 20,000 freaking dancing people.

Can you imagine how awesome it looked?! Luckily you don't have to imagine it. I rajin-ly embedded the video from YouTube!

You have to watch it! It's absolutely incredible and probably the coolest thing you'll see in a long time. And it will not fail to make you smile. The ending is the best! :)

And last but not least, I've lately become addicted to Cafe World all over again! I stopped during exam time and fell out of the loop, but the boredom of holidays has drawn me back :D

This is what my pink and brown Juicy Couture-themed cafe looks like now after some redecoration. Chio not! Only used up 100,000 coins so now I wanna buy loads of useless decorations! Hehe.

Who wants to start playing Cafe World and be my neighbour?? :D *turns to stare at Jia Yee*

We were the KINGS AND QUEENS of promise.

I've been looking forward to this moment for as long as I can remember. And now it's here. 30 Seconds To Mars' new song, Kings and Queens premiered last night for the very first time on KROQ, a Californian radio station. I was at their website, listening to it stream live.

It's been years since I've heard any new Mars music and it was such a surreal experience, I couldn't believe it was really finally happening. I still don't know what to think of the song. The voice is familiar, but the music is so completely different.

For a moment, I was really thrown. But you know, I like it. I'm already going around humming the chorus. The chanting voices of the fans from the Summit at the end gives me goosebumps.

I'm familiarizing myself with the song that I'll be promoting shamelessly and endlessly, for the next God knows how many months. Then again, I'll have all the time in the world to listen to it over and over again once it comes out on iTunes, there's no rush.

The new album, This Is War, officially releases on December 8th and I feel like I'm about to piss my pants with anticipation. After hearing Kings and Queens, you just want more.

Photobucket
One of the future album covers, besides the Faces of Mars campaign where 2000 of the albums are going to have individual photos of fans and Echelon from around the world on the cover.

Imagine that, someone buying a 30 Seconds To Mars album with your face plastered on it. I don't think I'd ever be able to take a photo nice or worthy enough of that.

I took a closer look at the photos of the pervy lamp that I posted previously, and then I noticed something... on the table right next to the pervy lamp is a picture of Jesus and a cross! Sacrilegious max! Hahahaha!!

Photobucket

Thanks to a long discussion with Jia Yee about her birthday party next month during Physics practicals, I can't get it out of my head. I think I'll go pick potential outfits for it. Even though I already kinda know what I want to wear (so long in advance!). It's gonna be a pink fiasco, baby! :D

And I also have plans to watch me some new episodes of Dollhouse and Smallville tonight. Desperately trying to push all the nervous, worried and fearful thoughts about the fast-approaching exams out of my mind.

We got our exam timetables today. 'Nuff said.

I feel like changing my blog background. So tell me, are you bored of the pink and green yet?

Fast forward.

FAST FORWARD.

Hello boys and girls, I'm back! After almost 6 months.
See, this was exactly what I was afraid of when I first started blogging again. That my lazy, procrastinating ass would just be too lazy to blog. Sorry for making you guys stare at the same layout, the same exact post and listen to the same annoying song for so many months. I swear on my Echelon wristband that it won't happen again. Empty promises.

I haven't worn that thing (my wristband) in quite a few months, actually. I've been totally neglecting anything even near Mars-related, and I feel bad about it. Jai, hunny, when you're done drooling over working out with Jillian Michaels, let's talk promo, okay? Just so I can feel a little bit better about myself.

Three words: I have broadband. Broadband. BROADBAND! Finally. No more using my phone as a modem. Freedom to blog (told ya), post at forums, upload photos, download songs and movies, watch videos, use Windows Live Messenger (I've been seriously deprived)!

The worst exams I've ever done in my life are over. Thank God. They gave me the most killer eyebags ever that I now have to recover from. I don't even want to think about what my marks will be like. I'll be glad for anything, even C's or D's, as long as I don't fail! I got back my Bio paper today. See for yourself.

Photobucket

I just managed an A2. Sad thing is, that's probably going to be the only A in my report book. This is bad.

Charlene's handiwork. If you can't see that, it says 'Mary Conception Callistus Tan Siunn Mann'. Go figure.

Mid-year exams are over which means half of Form 4 is over. It still feels like it's the beginning of the year to me, but somebody seems to have pressed the fast forward button on my life and suddenly it's almost June. And I just realized American Idol takes up almost half the year. It steals half of your year! Start watching in January and when you're done, blam! It's the end of May.

Talking about American Idol... KRIS WON. W00t! My parents were running around (not literally, they can't run anymore) singing Adam Lambert's praises while I harboured a secret notion that Kris Allen might just steal it from him. And I was right! Even though Amanda spoiled the results for me (sigh, this is the 2nd year in a row someone spoiled it for me), it was still the greatest finale I've seen.
Underdogs officially rule (sorry, Jai). Can I just say I absolutely loved Heartless and Ain't No Sunshine? He has this voice that just completely melts you. Simon Cowell's face when Ryan announced Kris' name was just so priceless.
Char, we'll give you a makeover so your hair won't look like his anymore. And your face won't look like Mr. Chang's/Aaron Sia's. You'll be forever grateful to us, you know it.

It's Saturday (way to go, Captain Obvious). And a Formula 1 race weekend. And you know what that means: qualifying. We're finally in Monaco, where the Indian juju on Raikkonen courtesy of Adrian Sutil/Force India first began last year. Me and Ya Wen are hoping that one year will break the curse. But if you know anything about what's going on in Formula 1 these days, Indian juju is the least of our worries. Forza Ferrari.

On a more general, random note, I wanna to watch Angels and Demons. I came dangerously close to accidentally reading spoilers of it on Ya Wen's blog. Thanks a lot, Ya Wen. And I'm strangely addicted to Britney Spears songs. Which explains the background music. Even if you don't know the song, the voice has gotta be familiar.

P/S: I'm gonna try and link all of you who have gotten blogs or relocated since January, asap :)
